The Hunger Games Women Studies and Dystopian Literature Research Paper

For my Critical Writing and Introduction to Women’s Studies class, in which we focused on dystopian novels and short stories featuring female leads and strong characters, we were assigned the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. After completion of this work, we all took a trip to see the movie adaptation of the novel. At the end of the semester, we were assigned a research paper in which we had to compare the novel to the movie adaptation. My paper revolved around the idea that film adaptation of The Hunger Games was unable to externalize significant emotions of Katniss through third person narration, which altered the audiences’ experience and led to a rather different interpretations of her character, values, and femininity.

Grade Received: A
